Has Modernity Changed You?

Knowledge, it can be said, is better than Ignorance, if wisdom arises then many of our delusions and falsehoods can magically begin to fade away, when understanding combines with wisdom clarity can seep into our minds freeing up the spirit to make wiser choices.

This is my first post for some months because I’m sensing that fewer people are focused on retirement and planning issues with many more concerned about survival and future safety. I judge that because I’m focused on feeling the temperature of the world around me I notice that my posts have become more political in response to my losing faith in governments that are making decisions that don’t serve the people and therefore I write more about adapting to potential political conflicts that are effecting us both economically and spiritually. Unfortunately, for readers looking for retirement formulas, this site may no longer suit your needs.

Poverty was over many centuries a religious ideal for many monastics following a path to God, the rise of unfettered and unregulated capitalism with no self-imposed limits has slowly pushed us to the edge of a new kind of poverty and towards a life that offers far less stability and at best only scraps at the table of the rich. Affluence has become too expensive even for people from many Western countries.

I can no longer talk of predictable retirement formulas when so much of what we see is the result of manipulation from a global elite pushing their forever wars to help resurrect their failing economies. Greed and power are affecting normal working people around the world and I am saddened to watch how they are being stripped of their dignity, dislocated from their work and left holding a bag full of anger and despair. Is there any wonder that not only are we humans feeling utter exhaustion because of our fretless leader’s policy decisions but the natural world is also suffering and close to collapse?

I lament that the human race has greatly expanded its knowledge but has not produced an expansion of consciousness. If we continue to be led by the nose to follow the herd over the hill then we are partly to blame, we are being lied to and it needs to be recognised. The media’s job right now is to make us believe “I will only do well if someone else does badly” and this pessimism only leads to a blame culture, the more we blame others the easier these crooks are getting away with our life savings and hope for a better future. Distraction is a classic magic trick. Please look over there while I pull the wool over your eyes……erhhhhh…. it’s so basic it’s ridiculous that we even believe half of it…

So my question this month is: “Will fear and the pressure of war edge you out of your innate sense of intuition and caring” or will you notice the truth staring you in the face?

Hi, I'm Gary! For me retirement was less about how to spend my time and more about becoming someone new, not trying to do something new, unshackled from normal, absent from habits and not fearful of new opportunities that present themselves.
